“Taking the art of shibari beyond the ropes, to capture the soul and emotions.”
My name is Komoa, and I have been practising shibari for more than a decade. For me, it is a practice that brings together technical skill and a deep human connection. My journey began in 2012 as a personal exploration, before developing into a committed and structured passion. I have had the privilege of attending classes and workshops with renowned riggers, developing my technique and immersing myself in what I consider to be the essence of shibari: an art of exchange and trust.
For me, shibari is much more than a collection of knots and techniques. Each session is a silent dialogue in which the ropes tell the story of an encounter. My approach is based on knowing my partner and on mutual respect. I tie not only the body, but seek to touch the soul, to invite an inner journey and to explore sensations, whether gentle, erotic or painful.
Experience and philosophy
My approach to shibari is varied and adaptive: it can be sensual, erotic or even painful, depending on my partners’ desires and limits. Inspired by Yukimura, I naturally practise an approach known as aibunawa, in which connection is paramount and each session becomes a space for freedom and sharing.
Over the years, I have incorporated complementary practices such as wax play and impact play, always with the intention of enriching my rope partner’s experience. As my style has continued to evolve, I have also been exploring new forms that I call “cubist ropes”, inspired by BeShibari’s style.
I am a student of Ren Yagami, a Japanese master with whom I continue to deepen and refine my practice.
Training and workshops
Since 2021, I have attended workshops with recognised experts, deepening my knowledge of advanced techniques and exploring a variety of styles. From takate gote techniques to working with the hashira, each new experience informs my practice and enriches my world.
Every partner, every session and every workshop is another opportunity to refine my art and deepen the connection with those who choose to share this journey with me.
